Artist Bio: Kayla Kemper
Kayla Kemper is an artist based in Santa Cruz, California. Her favorite childhood memories are of peering into the mysterious tide-pools and kelp beds of the California coast. She developed an appetite for exploring the beauty of nature, which would later fuel her art practice.
During her time as an undergraduate at UC Santa Cruz, she used mixed-media, photography, and sculpture to explore what it means to be human and connected to nature. Kayla soon discovered a passion for science illustration. It became a platform for her to continue appreciating and exploring the natural world. Upon completion of her B.A, she was accepted into the Science Illustration Program and CSU Monterey Bay.
Kayla's mission as an artist is develop visual media that will enhance viewers' understanding of nature, inspire awe, and nature stewardship.
